What is The Great Depression? This is a featured page

Picture of The Great DepressionThe Great Depression was a time when more than 32% of Australians were unemployed. Susso camps sprang up outside major cities. These were like soup kitchens but provided homes for unemployed people as well. The people that were still employed were payed very low for their work. The Great Depression started when Australia had borrowed money from England. Even though England got their money off Australia, they still couldn't avoid the coming of the Great Depression because the Wall Street Stock Market was too important to the economy. It was a time of hardship all over the world, especially in Australia.
